Both have a deep, regal purple hue and are haloed by scrolling, filigree metalwork and a ring of alternating amethysts and seed pearls that chase around the border and up the bale. Amethyst is the birthstone of February and is considered a stone of protection, clarity and tranquillity. Its deep violet colouring
